A light-filled, editorial wedding morning at Maison Albar Amoure, followed by a beautiful celebration at Solar da Levada.
A wedding morning at Maison Albar Amoure
Some wedding days stay with you because of the people, the atmosphere and the way everything comes together. This was one of those days.
The morning began at Maison Albar Amoure in Braga, where the couple prepared for their wedding surrounded by their closest friends. The hotel offered a beautiful setting for this part of the story, with elegant interiors and natural light that became an essential part of the photographs.
From the beginning, the atmosphere felt relaxed and full of anticipation. There was time to enjoy the small moments, to photograph the details and to let the story unfold naturally, without rushing or forcing anything.
An unforgettable bridal look
One of the most memorable details of the morning was the bride’s robe. With the elegance and presence of a wedding dress, it created a beautiful look of its own and became one of those details that everyone remembered.
I was drawn to the way the light entered the room, illuminating her while the rest of the space fell into shadow. I love working with this contrast, allowing light to guide the eye and create photographs that feel intimate, atmospheric and almost cinematic.
Rather than over-directing the moment, I wanted to preserve the feeling of the morning and the natural elegance of the bride. The result was a series of portraits with a more editorial character, while remaining faithful to the atmosphere of the day.
The groom and his closest friends
The groom’s preparations brought a different energy to the morning. Surrounded by his friends, there was room for conversation, laughter and those spontaneous interactions that make every wedding unique.
We also explored different areas of the hotel, using the interiors and available light to create portraits that felt connected to the setting without losing sight of the people themselves.
For me, wedding photography is about more than documenting how a place looks. It is about capturing how a day feels, the relationships between people and the small moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
A first look filled with anticipation
Before heading to the ceremony, the couple shared their first look at the hotel.
It was a beautiful moment to photograph. After spending the morning preparing separately, they finally had the chance to see each other before the celebrations continued. We chose a lovely spot within the hotel and allowed the moment to unfold naturally.
We also made time for editorial portraits with the bridesmaids and groomsmen, as well as group photographs with their friends. These photographs brought everyone together and gave us another opportunity to make use of the hotel’s light and surroundings.
From Maison Albar Amoure to Solar da Levada
After the preparations and portraits at Maison Albar Amoure, the couple and their guests made their way to Solar da Levada, where the ceremony and the rest of the wedding celebration took place.
It was a wonderful continuation of the day. The morning at the hotel gave us space for intimate portraits, preparations and a more editorial approach, while the celebration at Solar da Levada brought the story into its next chapter.
Each location had its own role in the wedding, and together they formed a day full of meaningful moments, beautiful light and genuine emotion.
Photographing weddings with natural light and a documentary approach
My approach to wedding photography is documentary, with an editorial eye for light, composition and atmosphere. I look for the moments that happen naturally, while also making space for thoughtful portraits when the setting and the people invite them.
At Maison Albar Amoure, the natural light was one of the defining elements of the morning. Working with the contrast between light and shadow allowed me to create photographs that felt both elegant and personal, without losing the spontaneity of the experience.
For couples planning a wedding in Braga or elsewhere in Portugal, a hotel can be an important part of the wedding story, not only as a place to prepare, but also as a setting for portraits and time with the people closest to you.
